"I take my Discovery to Land Rover Redwood City for service and I am always treated well. Recently, I took my car to a smog station for certification and the guy broke my key off in the ignition. Thankfully I noticed before I pulled off the lot or I am sure that I would have been stuck with the repair bill. The smog guy claimed that he had no idea that it happened but he would pay for the repair. I took the car to the Land Rover Redwood City and they were willing to remove the broken part of the key and then replace the key. The charge would be only the price of the key replacement, around $300. Not cheap I know, but owning any High Line car is not cheap when it comes to repairs or service. The dealership took quite along time before he said that they did not have the tools to remove the key. However they gave the smog guy the choice of paying to replace the ignition or getting a locksmith out to the dealership to have one last try. All the while the smog guy is claiming that the dealership is a rip off and even the locksmith who comes out and does finally remove the broken key part is saying that the dealership is charging too much for the key. I go to the locksmith to see if he can make the key for less and after an hour he finally admits that he can't make the new key and I will have to go back to the dealer. So after a wasted day, I go back to Land Rover of Redwood city and get my new key made. Bottom line...the smog guy and the locksmith both trashed the dealer but in this case the dealership was being more that fair and accommodating to both me and the smog guy paying the bill. If you want it done right you may want to bring it to a dealer. Chris and Brian from the service depatment are nice and do a professional job." - Nance M.
