Letting the Driver Switch from Driving on the Street to Off-Roading with Ease!

Land_roverrr

The Land Rover LR2 gets a facelift with its 2013 model, picking up a stronger, more efficient engine, a better-appointed interior, and revamped styling that really makes it stand out. With the new LR2 and the award-winning Evoque, Land Rover now has more than enough to lure in entry-level shoppers looking for premium SUVs.

The LR2 gains a heightened visual appeal, thanks to new exterior design elements that serve up a sportier and more purposeful image. Perhaps the best way to describe the LR2 is to refer to it as a more affordable "baby" Range Rover. Standard dual sunroofs increase the airy feel of LR2's cabin, with the front section opening and sliding back over the second-row glass roof panel.

The 2013 model is available in three trims: LR2 ($37,250); a more upscale LR2 HSE ($39,750); and the flagship LR2 HSE LUX ($42,350). All are powered by a new 240-horsepower, 2.0-liter turbocharged, direct injection inline four-cylinder engine that produces 250 lb.-ft. of torque.

During the international press launch in some tough terrain of Canada, my driving partner and I were assigned the 2013 LR2 HSE LUX. For those looking to go off-roading in stylish luxury, the 2013 Land Rover LR2 fills the bill quite nicely. The HSE LUX is obviously the most desirable model, but the base LR2 trim level is nothing to sneeze at. The mechanicals are same through the entire lineup.

The first leg of our drive was on-road and took us from Montreal to Montebello, where we embarked on a lengthy off-road drive through a 65,000 acre forest preserve. The off-road didn't involve extreme rock crawling, but there were challenging portions that were encountered successfully without incident.

Hill Descent Control with speed, which may be modulated through the Cruise Control, proved to be a valuable asset when traversing steep, slippery downhill scenarios. Terrain Response proved equally valuable off road. The system works continuously, but special programs may be selected by the driver for challenging terrain conditions. On the LR2, there are four Terrain Response settings, which the driver can choose via buttons: General Driving, Grass/Gravel/Snow, Mud and Ruts, and Sand.

The narrow A-pillars contribute to outstanding all-round visibility. Hood turrets allow placing the vehicle more accurately on the road, especially off the beaten path. The wheel stance and wide track result in agile handling and positive grip. Short front and rear overhangs and high underbody enhance off-road performance by maximizing approach and departure angles. The body-side protection guards against stone chips and helps to keep sills clean.

A. Kahn Design's 2013 Range Rover Is Bespoke Tuning At Its Best

Land_rover

Bespoke British outfit A. Kahn Design, a specialist in enhancing  luxary rides like the Range Rover, has finally got its hands on the latest 2013 model.

Considering the vast level of improvement the new model brings over its predecessor, enhancing the vehicle is no simple task.

However, as these shots of A. Kahn Design’s initial work on the big luxury SUV reveal, it looks like we’re in for a treat.

Instead of focusing on the performance, A. Kahn Design sets to improve the style of the vehicle. This is in keeping with the tuner’s philosophy that like a fine suit, a vehicle tells much about the person inside it.

This first package for the 2013 Range Rover from A. Kahn Design is called the Black Label Edition and is based on the premium Range Rover Vogue.

Enhancements include fender and door accents in satin black, similar satin black detailing on the hood, and brake calipers finished in gold. Special “Kahn” badging has been fitted all around, and the stock wheels replaced with the tuner’s latest RS600 wheels measuring 23 inches in diameter.

The designers are yet to complete the transformation of the interior, though A. Kahn Design promises armrests trimmed in quilted and perforated leather, with more leather used for the seats, glove box, steering wheel and door innards.

With the latest 2013 Range Rover proving to be a runaway success, enlisting the help of A. Kahn Design will ensure your own example stands out from the crowd.

2013 Range Rover is worlds “Best Dream Machine”

Redwood

The all-new 2013 Range Rover is the fourth generation in the Range Rover line and is already getting recognition as the world’s finest luxury SUV. Land Rover announced that MotorWeek has named the all-new 2013 Range Rover "Best Dream Machine" as part of its 2013 Drivers' Choice Awards. The 2013 model has been redesigned from the ground up with a new lightweight body, a new chassis structure and new refinements to the interior.

The 2013 Range Rover the world's first SUV with an all-aluminum monocoque body structure that is lighter and stronger than ever before, with a weight savings of about 700 lbs compared to the outgoing model. It also gets a new aluminum platform that includes an aluminum front and rear chassis architecture with a completely re-engineered four-corner air suspension. The reduction in weight results in improved handling in the corners.

Andy Goss, President of Jaguar Land Rover North America, accepted the award at the 2013 Chicago Auto Show. The new 2013 Range Rover made its North American debut in New York last year, and was revealed to a few select U.S. customers at the 30,000 square-foot home on the former Frick estate in a New York City suburb in Alpine, New Jersey. Since then, its been making its way around the globe and getting much attention.

“A brute in a tuxedo”

MotorWeek has recognized the Range Rover for its new levels of refinement, and reinforces its position among the finest luxury vehicles on the planet. MotorWeek host John Davis at the Chicago auto show said, "The Range Rover has always been a brute in a tuxedo, but now it's dropped some 700 pounds of weight, and put on some fancier duds for truly exceptional town and country living." Goss said, "We appreciate the experts at MotorWeek acknowledging the new Range Rover as their Dream Machine award winner here at the Chicago Auto Show."

Range Rover is world-renowned for its off-road and towing prowess. The 2013 model will retain that designation and has been improved by getting the next-generation version of Land Rover's Terrain Response system. The all-wheel-drive system analyzes the current driving conditions and automatically selects the most suitable vehicle settings for the terrain.

Luxury abounds inside

The new 2013 model gets a acoustic windshield and side window glass that reduces outside noise. The cabin still incorporates materials that use the finest leathers and veneers. It also has more legroom for rear occupants and gets a new two-seat Executive Class seating package for more rear-seat luxury.

The all-new 2013 Land Rover Range Rover will arrive in showrooms this winter, the all-new luxury SUV has a starting MSRP price of $83,500 and will go up to $130,950 for the Autobiography trim level. It looks like the new Range Rover will maintain its position as the world’s finest luxury SUV.

2013 Range Rover Waiting List Already Stretches 6-12 Months

If you’re looking for a big SUV with plenty of luxury, some of the best off-road credentials, and the latest technology, the 2013 Range Rover from Land Rover is one of your best options.

Unfortunately, the vehicle is proving just a little too good as strong global demand means supplies are already tight only two months into the vehicle’s launch.

Speaking with Automotive News (subscription required), Land Rover’s North American chief, Chris Marchand, revealed that the vehicle is already sold out for the next six to twelve months.

The latest Range Rover is a major improvement of the already impressive previous generation, thanks mostly to its lightweight aluminum construction, which has allowed designers to shed some 700 pounds from its curb weight.

Combined with a sumptuous interior, handsome styling and powerful engines, it’s easy to see why the vehicle is already sold out. Since driving it, we’ve also become big fans.

Land Rover Supports Lewis Moody In 'Greatest Challenge'

Land Rover has announced its support for Lewis Moody and the team in the Yukon Arctic Ultra, billed as the toughest Ultra Marathon in the world. Former England captain Lewis Moody will be taking part in the challenge alongside polar adventurer Alan Chambers MBE and Phil Wall, founder of HopeHIV, who the team is raising money for.

Throughout their gruelling training Land Rover has assisted the team through the provision of a 13MY Freelander 2. The vehicle has provided essential access and support in getting to remote areas in an attempt to get used to the type of terrains they will experience in the Yukon.

Lewis, Alan and Phil will trek 300 miles across the Yukon where temperatures can drop to -50 degrees. Throughout the 8-day trek, they will need to overcome a number of challenges en route which will include maintaining the correct body temperature, staying hydrated, and also sleep deprivation.

Jeremy Hicks Managing Director, Jaguar Land Rover UK, said: “We are excited to be supporting Lewis, Alan and Phil in their challenge to complete the 300 mile trek across the Yukon in Canada. As a company we celebrate individuals and teams who embrace life’s challenges with capability and composure, and this is a great example of a group of people who are doing just that. We are also extremely pleased that we could assist in their preparations through the use of our vehicles.”

Lewis Moody commented, “The Yukon Arctic Ultra is a great challenge for me and an opportunity to raise some money for a good charity that does some fantastic work. Having visited HOPEHIV projects in Nairobi in July 2008 and worked closely with the charity ever since, I feel passionately about the cause of street children in sub-Saharan Africa. Witnessing their daily lives firsthand put all of my challenges into perspective and I’m excited about raising money for them. It’s great to have partners, such as Land Rover, supporting me and the team along the way.”
